What can i do about a bird that came into town right outside my bedroom & chirps obnoxiously ALL DAY LONG?!?
i can not explain in words how annoying this is. he will pick a "tune" and sing it very uglyly (if thats a word) and repeat it with no breaks for HOURS, literally several hours per tune, starting like 6am and not finishing till late. Im ready to buy binoculars and throw rocks. I dont want to abuse however, so is there a smarter strategy? e.g. dad said i can buy a canary and if it outsings him he will leave, but i dont want to buy any birds. what about like buy something fake such as an animal he is frightened of that will scare him away?

Well, if you are in the US, you need to use non-lethal methods to deal with the bird. In the US, all native migratory birds are protected under federal law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act), and it is illegal to kill, harm, or harass the bird, or interfere with an active nest. Penalties for violating this law include up to $500 and/or up to 6 months in jail for each offense. http://ipl.unm.edu/cwl/fedbook/mbta.html
It is mating season right now, so it is probably advertising for a mate. Once he settles down with a family to raise, he won't be singing all day long. If you can't wait that long, you could keep your window closed and run a fan in your room so you don't hear the bird, or you could try earplugs. If you really want to chase him (and he and his mate do not yet have an active nest), you could hang CDs from the tree limbs, using brightly colored ribbon (not fishing line, as a bird can get tangled in that and be injured or killed).
Other than that, jut try to get used to it. At least you aren't hearing sirens and drive-by shootings and drunken brawls all the time.
